About WIES Design Competition

Overview:

The WIES Design Competition is a design competition open to female and male students in aged 11-14 to help them discover the excitement of Engineering and Science! In order to help them along this journey, the WTPEO will be supporting the participants every step of the way by providing team facilitators who are currently in the field of Engineering and Science. This event runs over the course of two weekends: July 8th & 9th and July 15th & 16th, 2017.

The participants, along with their expert facilitators, will participate in a four days design challenge that will include three workshops, prototype design and building, and final testing and presentation day. In addition to learning about engineering and science from the workshops and facilitators, participants will also have an excellent opportunity to meet other students who are similarly interested in engineering and science!

This year's competition focuses on using the latest technology to create solutions to real world problems. Participants will have the opportunity to work with technology, learn design from experienced facilitators and gain an understanding of how engineering and social/health problems interact in the real world.
